a subject matter expert my day to day responsibilities include ¨
Technical
leadership (guide investigation team to assess service impact, acquire facts,
analyze data and take appropriate actions) in resolving potentially brand and
revenue impacting network and service outages. ¨
Creating
and implementing deployment plans and executable Method of Procedures for new
network technologies and network capacity upgrades. ¨
Overseeing
the quality of the technical Method of Procedures (MOP) necessary to effect
changes to the production network, especially for highly risk activities,
with an ultimate objective of maintaining highest availability on these
services. ¨
Performing
holistic assessment on the operational stability and performance on all
components that comprise the complex service platform. ¨
Conducting
detail technical investigations to gather more data on service performance
issues and deal effectively with vendors to resolve these performance issues.
Recommending and institutionalizing industry best operations practices.
Recommend tool enhancements and automations to improve operational
efficiencies. ¨
Providing
mentoring to co-workers in order to develop, support and train operations
personnel on all technical aspects of the service platform with an aim to
adopt best operations practices. Establishing and reviewing technical
documentation on how to perform OAM&P (Operation, Administration,
Maintenance, & Provisioning) on new technology / product introductions to
the service platform. Accomplishments ¨
Planned
and deployed IP networks for Digital TV services based on Juniper MX960 and
Cisco 7600 platforms and 10 Gigabit Ethernet transport. ¨
Deployed
configurations Sparse mode and Source specific multicasting for VOD propagation
and Switched Digital Video services respectively. Developed operational
maintenance documentations for network troubleshooting and diagnostics. ¨
Deployed
Central Service Delivery Environment (cSDE) and Distributed Service Delivery
Environment (dSDE) that allowed Rogers to launch new services for Wire-line
or Wireless customers (such as Rogers One Number, Voice over LTE and Anywhere
TV) in a short span of time with minimum amount of network changes. Both cSDE
and dSDE environments were deployed based on highly available and redundant
Juniper EX8216 routers, MX960, SRX 5800 firewalls and A10 Networks 5400 and
3400 service load balancers. SDE system accommodated caching and delivery
systems, signaling and media communication among Rogers Wire-line
Hi-Speed, Home Phone, digital TV, TPIA Rogers management, Rogers wireless
networks and allowed virtualization of services and network resources (load
balancing, firewalling). Technologies employed included IPv4/IPv6 (dual
stacked) unicast (OSPF, ISIS, MBGP, L3MVPN) and multicast (PIM, SSM, mLDP),
State-full firewall and Server Load Balancing. ¨
Deployed
new BGP routing architecture and added more scalability by employing
multi-tiered route reflectors design. ¨
Deployed
a new design for distribution networks in Rogers Communications head-ends
based on redundant and highly available CRS-3 platforms. Planned and executed
migration of edge routers to new distribution networks by carefully
orchestrating executable method of procedures to ensure no customer impact. ¨
Worked
with IPv6 task force in testing and verifying IPv6 transition technologies
such as 6rd and 6to4 PMT. Deployed IPv6 unicast routing (ISIS and BGP) and
VPNv6 (6VPE) services for Rogers Broadband, Service Delivery and Management
networks. ¨
Lead
an initiative of standardizing SNMP trap configuration and monitoring of
network elements in Rogers Broadband and SDE networks. Worked closely with
OSS, Data NOC and IP Planning group and vendors in identifying and verifying
appropriate MIBs and documenting dispatch documents for Data-NOC. ¨
Developed
Python based scripts to automate various operational tasks such as DNS
service monitoring, resource monitoring of line-cards on routers and switches
and routing protocols cost metric reporting. Senior IP Design EngineerOctober 2011 –
October 2012 Break down of
experience: 60% Design, 40% Test/Verification. Accomplishments ¨
Developed
IP Network technical specification for Comverse Next Generation Voicemail
System; defined geographically redundant Network to Network Interfaces to
allow Rogers Wire-line VoIP systems to access Next Generation Voicemail
systems in Rogers Wireless Service LAN environment. ¨
Developed
technical specification for deploying dual stack IPv4/IPv6 DNS servers in
Rogers Management ¨
Internetwork.
Defined routing strategy and server load balancing methodology in a Geo
redundant fashion. ¨
Develop
prototype of proposed load balancing designs in Verification lab by deploying
the solution on A10 Networks AX2500/3400 Server Load balancers. ¨
Deployed
and tested a new generation of video delivery IP/MPLS network for Real time
and non-real time video delivery. Next generation multicast (MLDP based) VPN
and distributed service delivery environment was implemented in a
